We live in a winter city ... lets enjoy the outdoors!
50/50 Updates - Congratulations to Lawrence R. and Sid B. who had the winning ticket numbers from Sunday and Monday, February 20th & 21st. Saturday's ticket was unclaimed and the money has been forfeited to our charity.
Although it was a blustery weekend,,,over 30,000 people attented the Silver Skate Festival in February 2011 enjoying a host of free, fun filled, family activities including The Cessco Snow Garden, sleigh rides, sledge hockey (featuring the Paralympic Sports Association), snow shoe and skate trials, a Heritage Village, and a raft of entertaiment. And for the more adventuresome there were the 1k, 10k & 25K skate marathons and the ever popular Edmonton Winter Triathlon.
The Silver Skate Festival is rooted in the Dutch tradition of a love of the outdoors and the pleasure of experiencing the cultural and aesthetic beauty of winter. A unique blend of arts, sports, culture and recreational programming is combined in a way that reflects Edmonton's winter climate, geography and community. Silver Skate is an event inclusive of all ages and lifestyles. We invite all walks of life to enjoy winter in the beautiful setting of the River Valley in picturesque Hawrelak Park and best of all, "IT'S FREE"!
The Children's Ability Fund is proud to be the charity of choice for the Silver Skate Festival. Last year the Festival raised donations through the sales of commemorative "lights" to help brighten the winter night. In addition there were a limited quantity of the the "TOTI" prints of the Silver Skate Festive for sale.
